Building on Faith: The Realities of Running a Construction Business

Being a business owner in any industry comes with its unique set of challenges. But in construction, it can sometimes feel like we’re building on foundations that are constantly shifting beneath our feet. It’s a journey that demands not just skill and hard work, but an enormous amount of faith.

Right now, for instance, we’re under contract with two wonderful customers, projects we’re incredibly excited about! Yet, our tools are currently resting, waiting. We’re in that familiar, often frustrating, holding pattern: the permit process. It’s a critical step, ensuring everything is safe and up to code, but the waiting game can be incredibly tough.

For a family-owned business like ours, supporting our loved ones on a budget that can change by the month, or even the week, is a constant tightrope walk. The “not knowing” when a project can officially start, when the next invoice will be cleared, or what unforeseen obstacle might pop up next – that’s often the hardest part. It demands resilience and a deep well of trust.

Honestly, without our faith, Johnson Construction would never have survived this long. Through every market fluctuation, every unexpected delay, and every moment of uncertainty, God has consistently provided for our every need, and then some. He has opened doors, brought us incredible clients, and sustained us through thick and thin.

We are profoundly grateful for God’s unwavering provision and for the blessings He has bestowed upon us through the talents He’s given our family. Our ability to design, build, and create isn’t just a profession; it’s a gift we get to share, trusting that He will continue to guide our hands and our business forward.

Thank you for being a part of our journey and for trusting us with your projects. We’re committed to building strong, and we’re just as committed to building on faith.
